Facts so Far…
On May 31st a group of 6 boats (the “freedom flotilla”) were intercepted in international waters near Israel. Four more boats had intended joining the Flotilla but were not able to depart on time. The Flotilla had declared their objective of breaking through the naval blockade Israel established around Gaza in 2007 to prevent weapons being smuggled in to Hamas. These weapons include the materials used in building the missiles that have been landing in Sderot. Read what happened next in our summary of events.
